Summer Injury Research Fellowship (SIRF)

The Summer Injury Research Fellowship (SIRF) is a ten-week paid summer (mid-May – mid-August) fellowship in which fellows partner closely with a community-based organization or government agency to complete a well-defined injury prevention and control project that advances public health in Georgia.

Applicants must:​

• Be full-time Master’s students with a strong academic record​
• And have at least one more semester of coursework remaining before graduation at the time they complete their fellowship.  ​
• Students must be able to demonstrate the following skills, acquired through classes, internships/fellowships, or at work: ​
  • Understanding of the epidemiology of unintentional/ intentional injuries, including etiology and risk and protective factors; ​
  • Knowledge of the impact of injuries on health and society in terms of mortality, morbidity, disability and cost; and ​
  • Ability to identify and apply public health strategies and principles for the primary and secondary prevention and control of injuries.

CDC Injury Control Research Center Summer Internship

The CDC Injury Control Research Center Summer Internship provides an opportunity for students to be mentored by experts in the field of injury prevention. The internship lasts 8-12 weeks (May to August). This opportunity is for Emory University MPH or PhD students only.

The completion of EH 580 (Injury Prevention Control) course is encouraged or the ability to demonstrate equivalent experience is required for eligibility. You can find course descriptions in Emory Rollins School of Public Health Course Catalog.
