Sharon Nieb


Program Director

Dr. Nieb serves as the Program Director for the Injury Prevention Research Center at Emory which is located within the Department of Emergency Medicine. She coordinates and leads various programs within the Center that address the five top injury challenges in Georgia. She provides oversight of Center programs, including IPRCE Task Forces, and assists Dr. Rupp with the operations of the Center and funding and resource development. Dr. Nieb also guides and directs Center staff, oversees the development of organizational processes and procedures, including evaluation and performance management, and leads the Center Evaluation Team.

Dr. Nieb has 20 years of experience directing teams through the full spectrum of project/program planning and leadership activities. She has served as an adviser to senior executives and is a strategic problem solver on a range of program areas, including Healthcare, Academia, and Public Health with an emphasis in Program Development and Evaluation, Research, Grants Management, Training, Education, Fiscal Management, and Board Governance. She is a member of the Southeastern and Southwestern Injury Prevention Network Leadership Committee, is IPRCE’s liaison to the Georgia Trauma Commission, is a member of Georgia DPH’s Opioid Data and Surveillance, and PDMP Working Groups, and a member of the CHOA Children’s Injury Prevention Program Executive Leadership Team. Dr. Nieb also represents IPRCE at many state, regional, and national meetings, including CDC and SAVIR events.
